BBC Four have acquired the UK rights to air NBC's Parks and Recreation. The deal that BBC struck with NBC Universal is for the first 2 seasons of Parks and Recreation, which is currently in its 5th season in the US on NBC.

Picking-up the first 2 seasons doesn't come as much of a surprise as the 1st season only consists of 6 episodes. While season 2 is a full blown 24 episodes. If Parks and Rec does well on BBC Four, they will acquire the rights to the rest of the seasons.

Parks and Recreation coming to the UK

Created by Greg Daniels and Michael Schur, Parks and Rec follows the life of local Indiana government official Leslie Knope played by Amy Poehler. Knope the deputy director of the Parks and Recreation department doing her best for the local community. Despite the best efforts of her boss Ron Swanson (Nick Offerman) who tries to undermine the government at every turn. Parks and Rec also stars: Rashida Jones, Aziz Ansari, Aubrey Plaza, Paul Schneider, Chris Pratt, Adam Scott, Rob Lowe, Jim O’Heir and Retta.

This deal sees the end of months of negotiations between BBC and NBC Universal. In August there were rumours that the deal had been agreed however nothing had been signed.

Will you be watching Parks & Rec on BBC 4? Not sure if you will like it, why not have a look at the season 1 trailer below. Parks and Rec is expected to air in Spring 2013, however no listing is confirmed as yet.
