Update 24/12/12: Channel 4 air date confirmed as 9PM on Saturday January 12th.

World Without End the sequel to Pillars of the Earth (which aired earlier this year on Channel 4) will be coming to Channel 4 at 9PM on Saturday January 12th

The 8 episode mini series is based on the 2007 Ken Follett novel of the same name and set in the 14th century, two hundred years after construction of the great cathedral in Pillars of the Earth, Ken Follett's World Without End picks up the epic tale of Caris, a strong, passionate young woman, who inspires her medieval town of Kingsbridge to rise up and confront the dominant spiritual and political powers of the Church and Crown. While their reach and influence was all pervasive, the catastrophic effects of the Great Famine, war and plague had plunged the lands into chaos and so undermined the old political order. With the shadow of the Black Death stalking the lands and crippling poverty threaten to drag them under, Caris and her townsfolk must fight to save their town from ruin and, ultimately usher in a new era of freedom, innovation and enlightenment.

The series also features: Cynthia Nixon, Miranda Richardson, Peter Firth, Charlotte Riley, Tom Weston-Jones, Rupert Evans, Ben Chaplin.

The series was shot on location in Hungary, Austria and Slovakia with Howard Ellis' Mid Atlantic Films, the miniseries was produced by Tandem Communications and Take 5 Productions in co-production with Galafilm and in association with Ridley Scott and Tony Scott's shingle Scott Free Films.
"Scott Free and Tandem have always strived in our collaborations to create cinema for television," says Ridley Scott of Scott Free. "World Without End is, in scope and breadth, a particular achievement, and we’re thrilled to have a partner in Reelz who recognizes that this is anything but standard TV fare.”

World Without End UK air date 2013

In the US World Without End is currently airing on Reelz Channel after Starz(who aired Pillars of the Earth) failed to reach an agreement with Tandem. World Without End began airing on 17th October on Reelz Channel.

"World Without End is a monumental miniseries, told in a way that’s as big as the author himself,” ReelzChannel CEO Stan E. Hubbard says. "With The Kennedys, we conditioned our audience to know that our network is home to the biggest miniseries and World Without End is exactly that. We’re proud to take our viewers inside Ken Follett’s intriguing and magnificent world through a story that is cinematic in scope with an award-winning cast, crew and creators."

The show premièred on 4th September 2012 on Showcase in Canada. The U.S. premiere air date was on 17th October 2012 on ReelzChannel.
