Breaking Bad season 5 air date announced by AMC

AMC have announced that Breaking Bad will return with season 5 this summer on Sunday 15th of July 10/9c on AMC. While AMC renewed Breaking Bad for a 5th season of 16 episodes , only 8 episodes will air this summer, with the remaining 8 episodes airing NEXT summer. That's right 2013!
So does that mean Breaking Bad will have 6 seasons? Albeit with season 5 and 6 being very short? Well it must be, how can a show have such a long “hiatus” and be part of the same season.
One thing is for sure, US fans will get to see Breaking Bad long before the UK fans. Season 3 of Breaking Bad is only available in the UK via Netflix, LoveFilm(DVD) and DVD. However no UK TV channel looks like they will pick-up season 3 or 4, so it looks like the best option for UK fans will be to wait for Netflix, LoveFilm(DVD) or DVD release.
Breaking Bad is an AMC drama created and produced by Vince Gilligan. Breaking Bad stars Bryan Cranston as Walter White, a struggling high school chemistry teacher who is diagnosed with advanced lung cancer at the beginning of the series. White teams up with former student Jesse Pinkman (Aaron Paul) and turns to a life of crime, producing and selling methamphetamine, aiming to secure his family's financial future before he dies.
Breaking Bad season 5 airs on AMC Sunday 15th of July 10/9c.
