TBS saves Cougar Town from ABC axe main image

Good news for fans of Penny Can and the Cul-de-sac Crew. TBS has saved Bill Lawrence's fantastic sitcom Cougar Town, from being axed by ABC.

Michael Wright head of TBS/TNT said "Cougar Town is a smart, whimsical sitcom that draws its humor from likable, relatable characters" and "We are thrilled to have Cougar Town moving to the TBS neighborhood as the network continues to expand its slate of original comedy series."

The 13 brand new episodes of Cougar Town season 4 will air on TBS early 2013. TBS has also picked up the rights to air the first 3 seasons of Cougar Town so expect a run of repeats before season 4 begins. Cougar Town season 5 also looks likely.

This year has been a tough one for Cougar Town which after a lengthy month lay-off, limited advertising from the network and being shunted around the schedule has managed to maintain a large and passionate fan base.

Moving networks isn't new to show runner Bill Lawrence who switched networks with Scrubs back in 2008 when it was canceled by NBC and rescued by ABC.
