The Really TV channel have secured the rights to air the US drama Hart of Dixie. Hart of Dixie sees Rachel Bilson(Summer Roberts - The OC, Cindy - How I Met Your Mother) star as Dr. Zoe Hart who has set her sights on becoming scalpel jockey and joining her father as a heart surgeon. But after a trouble free life in the Big Apple Dr. Hart's life starts to “fall apart”. Dr. Hart seeking to get things back on track takes an offer from a persistent local GP which means she has to pack up her designer wardrobe and head south. The deep south of Bluebell Alabama(Heart of Dixie) is where Hart ends up.

Hart of Dixie comes from The CW network in the US which has brought us dramas such as One Tree Hill, Smallville, The Vampire Diaries, 90210, Gossip Girl and Supernatural. Created by Josh Schwartz, the creator of The O.C. and Executive Producer of Gossip Girl, Hart of Dixie is about small-town living, big-city attitudes and complicated love triangles.

If you're a fan of Bilson's past work then you will most probably like Hart of Dixie, where Dr. Hart has similarities with the role of Summer Roberts on The OC which got Bilson her break. Funnily enough Bilson's on screen father in The OC Dr. Neil Roberts was a surgeon although in plastics, well what else would you expect in Orange County.

The pilot episode of Hart of Dixie a 22 episode comedy drama will air on the UK’s leading lifestyle channel Really Mondays at 8pm starting on 30th April. Which for a few weeks at least form a UK premier double bill with the endearing Covert Affairs. Well for 2 weeks at least until series 2 of Covert Affairs finishes.

Hart of Dixie looks like a good fit for Really which aims its self at women age 18-44 and airs shows such as Bizarre ER, Snog, Marry, Avoid and repeats of US shows The OC, Grey's Anatomy and Bridezillas. Providing viewers with a cocktail of drama and reality that will leave you wanting just one more glass.

This follows a recent trend by the UKTV family in acquiring the rights to premier US TV shows in the UK and not just relying on repeats.

Alibi : Castle, Body of Proof and Rizzoli & Isles

Really : Covert Affairs, Hart of Dixie, Cheaters and The Ellen DeGeneres Show

Watch : Alcatraz and Grimm

Dave : Suits

So don't forget to tune in to Really (Sky Channel 248, Virgin TV 267, Freeview 20) on Monday 30th April at 8PM to watch Hart of Dixie. Will Really follow Dave and Suits in showing the latest episode of Hart of Dixie online for the week after it aired?

Hart of Dixie still hasn't been renewed for a 2nd series/season so be warned this may be the 1 and only series. If you like it why not join the twitition.
