The first season of Fox’ version of the U.K. successful hit “The X Factor” is still underway and already, the network has ordered a second season.  The show is a creation of “Syco Television” which is Simon Cowell’s company and features the reunion of Simon Cowell and his American Idol co-host Paula Abdul along with Nicole Sherzinger and L.A. Reid.  Simon Cowell released a statement regarding the announcement of the second season.

“I am absolutely thrilled with the news.  I have loved making the show and I want to thank FOX, our sponsors and most importantly, the fans for supporting THE X FACTOR,” Simon Cowell said in a statement.

Ratings have been extremely well for the new show and it has outperformed other reality based series such as “The Biggest Loser,” “Survivor,” “Dancing with the Stars,” and the “Amazing Race.”  In addition to Simon Cowell, Fox Broadcasting Company President of Alternative Entertainment Mike Darnell also released a statement.

“THE X FACTOR is a monumental success.  It’s won every night it’s been on the air, the talent is phenomenal, the live shows are spectacular and picking it up is a complete no-brainer.  Simon and his team have done an incredible job with the show, and I’m absolutely thrilled to bring back THE X FACTOR for another fantastic season.”

“The X Factor” airs on Wednesdays from 8:00 pm-10:00 pm ET on Fox with the live performances and then airs on Thursdays from 8:00 pm – 9:00 pm ET for the results show.
