ABC has a new series debuting on June 21, 2011: “Combat Hospital.”  The show takes place in Southern Afghanistan and features a military hospital that specializes in advanced surgical care.  As the only military hospital in Southern Afghanistan that specializes in advanced surgery, the hospital features doctors and nurses from a variety of countries including Canada, the United States and the United Kingdom as well as allies.  “Combat Hospital” premieres on Tuesday, June 21, 2011, 10:00-11:00 pm, ET.

“Combat Hospital” features Elias Koteas as Colonel Marks, Michelle Borth as Dr. Rebecca Gordon, Luke Mable as Dr. Simon Hill, Deborah Kara Unger as Major Grace Pederson, Terry Chen as Captain Bobby Trang, Arnold Pinnock as Commander Will Royal.  The show is filmed on the largest standing set ever built in Toronto.

The pilot episode “Welcome to Kandahar” is set in Afghanistan in 2006.  Captain Bobby Trang, a trauma surgeon, reports for duty at the NATO Role 3 Multinational Medical Unit at Kandahar Airfield.  Colonel Xavier Marks is the hospital’s commander.  The doctors and nurses who report for duty are faced with challenges they never experienced before.
