The award show that focuses on the best in entertainment geared towards youth is returning to Fox in August.  The Teen Choice Awards 2011 will air on August 7, 2011 between 8:00-10:00 pm and will air live on the on the East Coast.  Those in Pacific Time zones will see a tape delayed version of the show.  Nominees have not yet been announced; the names of the lucky nominees, presenters and performers will be announced in June 2011.

The Teen Choice Awards have aired on Fox since 1999 and showcases the best in entertainment geared towards youth in categories including film, television, fashion, sports and music.  Some sample categories include: Choice Hottie, Choice TV Villain, Choice Movie Liplock, Choice Red Carpet Icon, Choice Twit, Choice Music Single, Choice Athlete, Choice Comedian and Choice Web Star.  Teens between the ages of thirteen and nineteen cast their votes for the best of the best.  Winners are awarded full size surfboards.  This year’s host has not been announced but singer Katy Perry and the male cast of Glee (Kevin McHale, Chris Colfer, Mark Salling and Cory Monteith) hosted Teen Choice Awards 2010.

 

Bob Bain, who produces Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards, serves as executive producer for the Teen Choice Awards.  He released a statement regarding the decision to air the 2011 awards on Fox, “I am thrilled to have TEEN CHOICE 2011 air live once again on FOX.  Since news travels fast across social media and the Internet, this allows us to deliver all the excitement and surprises in real time to teens across America.”

 

Last year Twilight stars Robert Pattinson, Taylor Lautner were a huge hit as “The Twilight Saga: New Moon” won best fantasy film.  Presenters and performers from Teen Choice Awards 2010 included Kristen Bell, Miranda Cosgrove, Kourtney and Kim Kardashian, Jane Lynch and Channing Tatum.
