Missing poster

A new report by Deadline.com states that the Golden Globe Award nominated daughter of Naomi Judd and half sister of singer Wynonna is moments away from inking a deal for ABC’s new series Missing. The show was previously titled Safe and Hall of Mirrors but is currently titled Missing and will reportedly feature Ashley Judd as CIA agent Becca Winstone who is searching Europe for her missing 18-year-old son.

The show is slated to premiere in fall. Greg Poirier, who co wrote National Treasure: Book of Secrets, scripted the pilot. TV Guide reports that Gina Matthews and Grant Scharbo will serve as executive producers and Steve Shill will direct. Early response to the announcement has been mixed. While many of Ashley Judd’s fans are thrilled to see the actress return to television (Ashley Judd appeared on the NBC series Sisters from 1991-1994; the show ran until 1996. She also appeared on Star Trek: The Next Generation) others have questioned how long the storyline can continue.

According to early reports, Becca Winstone’s 18-year-old son will disappear while studying during an internship in Italy. It’s unclear how long the writers will work the missing son storyline into the show but it appears that it should last the entire course of the series.

Some of Ashley Judd’s film credits include Kuffs, Ruby in Paradise, Love Can build a Bridge, Heat, Kiss the Girls, Double Jeopardy, Norma Jean & Marilyn (for which she was nominated for a Golden Globe Award), De-Lovely (Golden Globe nomination) and the film Bug. She will appear in the new film Dolphin Tale, scheduled for release on September 23, 2011.
