School Pride

School Pride logo"School Pride" is a proactive, alternative series that tells the stories of communities coming together to renovate their aging and broken public schools. While transforming the school, the community also restores its sense of value and school pride. The cameras follow students, teachers and parents as they roll up their sleeves and rebuild their own schools, concluding with the unveiling of a brand new, completely transformed school. They are motivated by a quartet of community organizers and personalities -- SWAT Commander Tom Stroup, interior designer Susie Castillo ("House of Payne"), comedian and former substitute teacher Kym Whitley ("Til Death") and political correspondent Jacob Soboroff ("AMC News"). Together, the team of experts will lead the community through the makeover process...

SCTV Network 90

SCTV Network 90 logoAfter a successful Canadian run as Second City TV on Global and SCTV on CBC, the cast packed up and moved to America (theoretically) when NBC offered them a timeslot under the title SCTV Network 90. With them, they brought their unique, quirky characters, their personalities, and the shows they had appeared on. Dick Blasucci had begun writing for the cast in their second series, SCTV, and joined them here, serving as a recurring straight man for the characters. Tony Rosato and Robin Duke wrote scripts at the beginning of the show as they had before, until quickly leaving to write and perform for Saturday Night Live. The appeal of SCTV Network 90, however, doesn't only come from the writing, but from the sheer wit of its legendary stars.

seaQuest DSV

seaQuest DSV logoIn the year 2018, mankind is colonizing the oceans and exploiting their resorces, establishing small undersea farming, mining, and manufacturing communities. But with the newfound potential comes old-fashioned conflict and the United Earth Oceans Organization (U.E.O.) assigns the high-tech submarine seaQuest DSV to keep the underwater peace and generally patrol the planet's final frontier.

Search

Search logoThe premise of the show centered on Probe, a division of World Securities Corporation. Individuals, companies, governments would hire the Probe Division to "search and recover that which was missing." Probe's agents were equiped with miniturized television scanners, which transmitted picture, sound, medical telemetry and anything else the script writers could think of back to Probe Control, where computer specialists monitored the agent's progress, and analyzed the information the scanner was transmitting. The scanners were small and round and had a magnetic back so they could attach to a ring, tie-tack, locket, or anything with a metal surface. That way the scanner appeared to be an exotic piece of jewelry. The agents also had a small audio receiver implanted behind the left ear, so they ...

Secret Squirrel Show

Secret Squirrel Show logoHad to do some thinking looking back as to what about this cartoon earned my preference. It is now on Boomerang & being curious about what I'd think of it as an adult, I took a gander at a few episodes. I don 't know if I can say that it's more intelligent than other cartoons of its time. In many ways it's more campy & far-fetched than a lot of them. Being a spoof to the James Bond, & other secret agent features dating as far back as the Maltese Falcon, the campiness worked. At age 6 however I wasn't familiar enough with all these other ones to see the connection. Although I knew about Goldfinger, & now know that the most recurring villain-Yellow Pinky-was named after him & was a cross between him & Casper Gutman from The Maltese Falcon, I'd never seen the latter at...

Seinfeld

Seinfeld logoJerry Seinfeld is a very successful stand-up comedian, mainly because the people around him offer an endless supply of great material. His best friend is George Costanza, a bald, whiny loser who craves the kind of success Jerry has but is never willing to do what it takes to get it. Jerry's neighbor Kramer often barges into his apartment and imposes onto his life. In the second episode Jerry's former girlfriend Elaine Benes comes back into his life, and the four of them are able to form a friendship together. The episodes were rarely very plot-heavy, focusing more on mundane conversations and situations that could be found during everyday life in New York.
